Our Pastor Reverend Dr. Keith A. Ogden The Reverend Dr. Keith Anthony Ogden is the Senior Pastor of the historic Hill Street BaptistChurch (HSBC), Asheville, North Carolina. Hill Street Baptist Church is located in the National Historic Community District of Montford. HSBC is one of the most respected and leading churches in the greater Asheville, North Carolina Region. Because of the church’s African American heritage and cultural diversity, the church has embraced the biblical model of all people worshipping and witnessing together for the Glory of God. Since coming to Hill Street Baptist Church in 2003; Pastor Ogden has been very active in the Asheville community. He has been featured on numerous occasions in the local Citizen-Times newspaper for speaking to issues as they relate to the Asheville Community; while holding the local and political government accountable for their promises. He is a former columnist for the Religion section of Asheville Citizen-Times newspaper; which is distributed to thousands of homes in the Greater Asheville area. Pastor Ogden is a humble and diligent shepherd, who unselfishly gives of himself to his membership and the community. Because of his God given ability to be a creative thinker, Pastor Ogden uses creative concepts to promote the gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost and dying world without succumbing to the gimmicks of the world. Dr. Ogden is a published author and has completed his first publication which was released in August of 2009 entitled Walking in the Underserved. Jemison, Dr. Jeremiah Wright, Dr. Gardner C. Taylor and Dr. Lance Watson, and selected to participate in the “Pastoral Excellence Program (PEP)” with the Lott Carey Foreign Mission Convention. The PEP is a three year program and offers the following: collaborative service with hosts in Guyana, Jamaica, and Italy, participation in peer groups, investment in learning through didactics, Internet studies and the development of a deeper global understanding of ministry. He accepted the call to ministry while serving his country in the United States Army in 1995, while stationed in Seoul, Korea. After returning to his next duty assignment in San Antonio, TX; he was licensed to preach in 1996, ordained in 1997 by my childhood pastor, the late Reverend O.F. Lee, former Senior Pastor of the New Tabernacle Baptist Church, Pensacola, Florida. Dr. Ogden served his country in the United States Army and retired as a senior Non-Commissioned Officer with 21 years of active military service. While serving on active duty, he was awarded (3) Meritorious Service Medals by exhibiting exceptionally meritorious service at his level of responsibility. After his retirement he was employed with Military Professionals Resources, Inc., as a Contract Recruiter Manager for Civilian Army Recruiters, U.S. Army Recruiting, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He has an earned a Master of Arts degree in Biblical Studies. Additionally, two (2) Honorary Doctorate of Divinity degrees were conferred upon him. He has also matriculated at Pierce Community College; Army Logistic Management College and North Central Technical College and Liberty Theological Seminary; Continuing Education Units – Certificates: New Testament, Payne Theological Seminary and Pastoral Counseling, Interdenominational Theological Center, Atlanta, GA, and Newburgh Theological Seminary, Evansville, IN. Hill Street Baptist Church Under the leadership of Dr. Ogden, the Health & Missions Ministry is placing more emphasis on domestic violence awareness, breast cancer support, prostate and colon health. Dr. Ogden has preached in Georgetown Guyana, and the HSBC has adopted Cornerstone Apostolic Church in Guyana as their mission church. He has also preached in Kinston, Jamaica and Naples and Rome, Italy. He serves on the Executive Board as the Chairman of the Planning & Evaluation Committee; and the Evangelism Board of the Progressive National Baptist Convention and in 1994 he was elevated to the 33rd Degree Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, PHA Southern Jurisdiction, USA. He is a Board Member of ABBCM and serves on the Pioneering Healthier Communities Commission for the City of Asheville. He has been married to the former Patricia Ann Craig for 24 years and with this union they have one daughter, Taneshia Nicole Ogden and two grandchildren: Tayshon Amir and Ka’Liah Alease.
